南洋真空教天靈總道堂

七十载弘道济世,传承信仰与希望

A brief history of Thian Leng Chong Toh Tong

This place was once remembered by many as an “opium den” or “heroin nest,” home to those local people referred to as “opium addicts.” It was once a gathering spot for opium smokers. However, what many did not know was that many of those who gathered here were actually people at the end of their rope, determined to quit their addiction and rebuild their lives. To put it accurately, this place was truly an “opium rehabilitation center” rather than an “opium den.”

Located at Changi, the Thian Leng Chong Toh Tong of the 南洋真空教天靈總道堂 at 472 Changi Road today has a 70-year history. The 真空教 (Zhenkong Jiao) is a folk religion founded in 1862 (the first year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty) by Master Liao Dipin in Changning, Jiangxi, China.

Liao Dipin had four close primary disciples: 赖仁章, 蓝菊音, 凌邦壁, and 张声见. Together with Liao Dipin, they are known as the Five Ancestral Masters of the 真空道.
